## Verified facts

Checked against Up's own documentation on 2026-08-19. Fields absent below are ones Up does not document, not ones we assumed.

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Reset starts at | https://self-id.up.pt/reset |
| Reset by phone | yes |
| The email contains | a code |

## Steps

1. **Open Up's password reset page** at https://self-id.up.pt/reset. This is where the "Forgot password?" link on the sign-in screen leads.
2. **Enter the email address on the account.** If you are not sure which address that is, search your inboxes for mail from up.pt; the inbox holding those messages is the account email.
3. **Enter the verification code** Up emails you.
4. **Choose a strong new password.** 16+ random characters, and never one used anywhere else.
5. **Store it somewhere sealed**: a password manager or encrypted vault, not a note and not a screenshot.

## Common problems

- **SMS code must be entered within confirmation window.** After the SMS verification code is received, users must insert it in the confirmation form to proceed to the page where they can define a new password. (https://www.up.pt/portal/en/updigital/services/accounts-passwords/change-recover-password/)
- **New password applies across multiple systems.** The documentation notes that the new password will be used for SIGARRA, Email, AAI federated authentication, AD UP workstation authentication, Printing, and Microsoft Office systems. ## Doing it automatically

Repass connects to Gmail once, finds the accounts you have, and runs this flow for you in your own browser. Passwords are generated on your device and encrypted before they are stored; Repass also holds a key that can unwrap the vault, so signing in is enough to open it. It pauses and hands over when a site asks for a CAPTCHA or a code.
