## Steps

1. **Open Sonic's password reset page** at https://members.sonic.net/password-recovery/. This is where the "Forgot password?" link on the sign-in screen leads.
2. **Enter the email address on the account.** Sonic also accepts the username. If you are not sure which address that is, search your inboxes for mail from sonic.net; the inbox holding those messages is the account email.
3. **Open what Sonic sends and follow it.** Depending on the route it is either a link or a short code. Both are single-use and short-lived.
4. **Choose a strong new password.** 16+ random characters, and never one used anywhere else.
5. **Store it somewhere sealed**: a password manager or encrypted vault, not a note and not a screenshot.
