## Steps

1. **Open the sign-in page** at ionos.de and choose "Forgot password?". Some sites label this "Can't log in?" or "Trouble signing in?".
2. **Enter the email address or phone number on the account.** IONOS also accepts the username. If you are not sure which address that is, search your inboxes for mail from ionos.de; the inbox holding those messages is the account email.
3. **Enter the verification code** IONOS emails you.
4. **Choose a strong new password.** 16+ random characters, and never one used anywhere else.
5. **Store it somewhere sealed**: a password manager or encrypted vault, not a note and not a screenshot.

## Common problems

- **Phone PIN deactivated after password reset.** Creating a fixed phone PIN and resetting password will deactivate the PIN.
