## Verified facts

Checked against GoDaddy's own documentation on 2026-08-20. Fields absent below are ones GoDaddy does not document, not ones we assumed.

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Reset starts at | https://sso.godaddy.com/v1/account/reset |
| Reset by email | yes |
| The email contains | a link |
| Username accepted | yes |

## Steps

1. **Open GoDaddy's password reset page** at https://sso.godaddy.com/v1/account/reset. This is where the "Forgot password?" link on the sign-in screen leads.
2. **Enter the email address on the account.** GoDaddy also accepts the username. If you are not sure which address that is, search your inboxes for mail from godaddy.com; the inbox holding those messages is the account email.
3. **Open the reset email and follow its link.** Links are single-use and short-lived; if nothing arrives in a few minutes, check spam and confirm the address.
4. **Choose a strong new password.** 16+ random characters, and never one used anywhere else.
5. **Store it somewhere sealed**: a password manager or encrypted vault, not a note and not a screenshot.

## Common problems

- **Email delivery delay for password reset.** Password reset emails are sent to the account email address on file and arrive "in a few minutes." If email is not received, GoDaddy may not have your current email address. (https://www.godaddy.com/help/reset-my-godaddy-password-8)
- **2-step verification can prevent 2SV recovery access.** If you lose access to the device or authenticator app used for 2-step verification setup, you must submit an account recovery form with customer number and identity verification to regain access. - **Identity verification required for high-risk actions even when 2SV disabled.** After disabling 2-step verification, GoDaddy still requires identity verification for high-risk actions or suspected fraudulent login attempts. ## Doing it automatically

Repass connects to Gmail once, finds the accounts you have, and runs this flow for you in your own browser. Passwords are generated on your device and encrypted before they are stored; Repass also holds a key that can unwrap the vault, so signing in is enough to open it. It pauses and hands over when a site asks for a CAPTCHA or a code.
