## Steps

1. **Open Clearpay's password reset page** at https://portal.clearpay.co.uk/uk/reset-password-verify-ask/. This is where the "Forgot password?" link on the sign-in screen leads.
2. **Enter the email address or phone number on the account.** Clearpay also accepts the username. If you are not sure which address that is, search your inboxes for mail from clearpay.co.uk; the inbox holding those messages is the account email.
3. **Enter the verification code** Clearpay emails you.
4. **Choose a strong new password.** 16+ random characters, and never one used anywhere else.
5. **Store it somewhere sealed**: a password manager or encrypted vault, not a note and not a screenshot.

## Common problems

- **Verification code sent to old phone number.** If you have a new phone number but the account has an old number registered, the verification code cannot be received and you'll need to update your phone number first.
